Obama supporters shocked and angry at new tax increases

Mathetes posted this Washington Times story in a comment and I had to use it.

Excerpt:

Sometimes, watching a Democrat learn something is wonderful, like seeing the family dog finally sit and stay at your command.

With President Obama back in office and his life-saving “fiscal cliff” bill jammed through Congress, the new year has brought a surprising turn of events for his sycophantic supporters.

“What happened that my Social Security withholding’s in my paycheck just went up?” a poster wrote on the liberal site DemocraticUnderground.com. “My paycheck just went down by an amount that I don’t feel comfortable with. I guarantee this decrease is gonna’ hurt me more than the increase in income taxes will hurt those making over 400 grand. What happened?”

Shocker. Democrats who supported the president’s re-election just had NO idea that his steadfast pledge to raise taxes meant that he was really going to raise taxes. They thought he planned to just hit those filthy “1 percenters,” you know, the ones who earned fortunes through their inventiveness and hard work. They thought the free ride would continue forever.

So this week, as taxes went up for millions of Americans — which Republicans predicted throughout the campaign would happen — it was fun to watch the agoggery of the left.

“I know to expect between $93 and $94 less in my paycheck on the 15th,” wrote the ironically named “RomneyLies.”

“My boyfriend has had a lot of expenses and is feeling squeezed right now, and having his paycheck shrink really didn’t help,” wrote “DemocratToTheEnd.”

“BlueIndyBlue” added: “Many of my friends didn’t realize it, either. Our payroll department didn’t do a good job of explaining the coming changes.”

[...]The Twittersphere was even funnier.

“Really, how am I ever supposed to pay off my student loans if my already small paycheck keeps getting smaller? Help a sister out, Obama,” wrote “Meet Virginia.” “Nancy Thongkham” was much more furious. “F***ing Obama! F*** you! This taking out more taxes s*** better f***ing help me out!! Very upset to see my paycheck less today!”

“_Alex™” sounded bummed. “Obama I did not vote for you so you can take away alot of money from my checks.” Christian Dixon seemed crestfallen. “I’m starting to regret voting for Obama.” But “Dave” got his dander up over the tax hike: “Obama is the biggest f***ing liar in the world. Why the f*** did I vote for him”?

If there was one thing that conservatives made clear on our blogs over and over again, it’s that Obama could only get $80 billion a year by restoring the Clinton-era tax rates on people who earn over $250,000 per year. All the conservative bloggers knew that we had run up over $5 trillion in deficits during Obama’s first term, and that a few billion wouldn’t put a dent in it. You have to wonder how these liberals are informing themselves before voting. Do they pay attention to actual numbers, or is it all just emotional for them? Everyone knows that the Democrat Party is the party of higher taxes, and everyone should have known that they would never be able to pay for all of their spending by taxing only the top earners.

UPDATE: Nancy Pelosi, who would like to get rid of the debt ceiling completely, has now called for more taxes in future fiscal cliff deals. Surprise, surprise – this is the only way that they can pay for the trillions in spending.

This makes me feel so good. Who’s with me?

  2. Todd Pitner says:

Obama supporters “shocked”…Obama non-supporters just “p;SS*d”. America is getting precisely what America deserves with their false Messiah in office. Nice work, supporters. Next time, more homework, more paycheck.

  3. RICanuck says:

Why is anyone upset? Obama never promised to extend the payroll tax cut. Neither did Romney.

Both candidates made election promises. Adults should be aware that election promises are not lies.

  4. Sally Hill says:

I would agree with RIC – Obama did exactly as he promised. His supporters need to wake up and actually listen to what he is saying and not imagine he is saying what they want him to say. He SAYS he is for the middle class, but if you really LISTEN to what he says – he wants to tax us all into oblivion.

I wanted us to go off the cliff. Personally I would have been hurt pretty bad by the tax increases, but it would have woken his supporters up much faster. This way he gets to squeeze the tax hikes in little by little. Kinda the way gas has gone up – little by little and suddenly it’s okay that it’s near $4 a gallon – why are the media not screaming like they were when Bush was in office? Even O’Reilly is allowing the gas prices without screaming like he did.

Obama supporters need to wake up. Republican’s aren’t much better, but at least they don’t take as much as the Dems take. They are all liars and thieves and corrupt beyond words, but the Republican’s are a tiny bit more honest and a tiny bit less corrupt. We need to kick them ALL out and make sure we have term limits. But that will never happen.

People get the government they deserve.

    Why am I not surprised?

    • T.F. says:

The foundation of our nation is a common morality, integrity, virtue and these are fractured into a million pieces now. Over half of the nation reject the US Constitution, a majority of churchgoers are in a deep crisis of Bible illiteracy and nobody cares, We can no longer self govern so we get a totalitarian government that will govern for us. The United States of America! It was a good run but it is now an evening shadow of what once was. Sad.

  6. Sleepingbeauty says:

I love when reality hits people subtlety …. Sadly I think this emotional reaction will be forgotten for the next election.

    • Daniel says:

Yes it is emotional isnt it, they dont look at numbers or any facts.I wonder if the same logic is used in other area’s? Like buying a car, yes i’ll have the green one, it looks nice. Or i like that preacher, dresses well.

  7. So of us don’t pay income taxes, and only end up paying SS. As self-employed, that means my actual SS load increased 25%. The reason I have payed no taxes is because I have huge write-offs from my losses in the housing collapse. But, I still have to pay SS on business income, even though it’s offset in investment losses. Add in Property taxes, and my tax rate is nearly 100%. Meanwhile 1%ers will find ways to pass their tax burdens onto someone else, or other costs, such as health care. Anyone who has half a brain could see this coming. But, of course, most people depend on someone else to do their math, so they haven’t got a clue. Business owners like myself tried to tell them, but they just think we’re rich slave owners. Specially if we’re white,

  8. Todd Pitner says:

I’m with you, righwingnutsandbolts! I’m a business partner in a firm that employs 125 members of our team. Ownership met (this week) to plan a year in advance on how we’re going to reconfigure our corporate structure and employee base to take the majority of workers part time. Wish we didn’t have to think like we do — but Obamacare is anything but caring, at bottom. We just can’t afford $250,000 off the net. WE are the 1%-ers who are NOT the uber-wealthy — just entrepreneurs employing a fair amount of full-timers…in 2013 anyway. In the end, math wins…unfortunately for those aware and…for those unaware.

  9. Mathetes says:

They say that some conservatives were liberals that got mugged by reality. Maybe this will make people think a little more. I think they’ll need some more mugging, however, before they wake up.

Just wait till 2014, when Obamacare fines begin to come into play. You will either have to buy insurance, at around $6000 a year, or pay a penalty, which, by 2016, will be $695 or 2.5% of household income, whichever is greater.

A rational, healthy, person will pay the fine and wait till he’s sick to get insurance. However, those with families probably won’t take the chance, so they’ll get the insurance. And pay the cash.

  10. Jason says:

President Obama ALL through his campaign said over and over….”your deductions, your paycheck, nothing will increase”

Spin time is next…the media, the newspapers, the college professors, the “experts” will blame this on the Republicans.

What I don’t understand is still people “duck speaking” about how Social Security has never cost one penny to our debt…..

what planet do these people live on??????

  11. Mike says:

“I guarantee this decrease is gonna’ hurt me more than the increase in income taxes will hurt those making over 400 grand. What happened?”

What a revealing statement. HURT those making over 400 grand?? This is as good as an admission that the tax increases were NOT about “fairness,” bit about sticking it to those eeeeevilll rich people. All I’ll say in response is we could’ve told you this was coming pal.
